Where do your bridges lead?

Bridges are often seen as a sign of connectedness, a concrete or in this case steel representation of  the effort or path humans make as they reach out to another place, another world or another person.  The bridge is a sign that people are reaching out to someone or something outside of themselves. Build bridges instead of walls and you will have a friend.

Part of the dictionary definition of a bridge is, “something that makes a physical connection between two things.” There has been much made of the importance of never burning the metaphoric bridge.  When you burn your bridges behind you one day you will discover the world is round and you may need to again cross that bridge.

Firdtjorf Nansen said, “I demolish my bridges behind me – then there is no choice but forward.” He was looking for the sign of a burnt bridge to help light his way.  He no longer wanted to connect with that world, that place or that person.

Ever wonder towards what are you building bridges?
