Aren't Saturdays the perfect day to reflect and write?

"the important things need to be protected. Protected from games and people. Not because of pride or prejudice or even to make any sort of point. It isn’t personal. Protection is important for a sense of peace. Nobody’s perfect but people who understand peace and peace of mind get what you do to protect yourself. They don’t push or pull they just are polite."

Your comment hit home -- Saturdays are my day of protection, when I have peace of mind, with no one pushing. Enjoy the day! :)

Herbert,

Thanks for stopping by. I read a few pieces on your blog. Addressing Human Weakness was very deep and insightful. Is it true you are so deep and thoughtful at only the age of 17?

Most of the time I too really like airports. Only recently, I think because of how much I have been flying I have started to become a little bored in them or perhaps I just don't find particular joy in the Kuwait airport! However that being said perhaps a little more planning will lead me to enjoy my airport experience.

Hope you have grand adventures!

Technology is what we make it to be -- it can isolate us from or connect us with the rest of the world. I personally love airports, but I do find that waits can be a bit boring, and technology is an alternative to being bored.

That said, there are tons of things that can be done without technology to keep the mind busy though, right?

Carla,
That is an interesting point, about making "new" friends at the airport. Perhaps the moments focused on technology on making contact or strengthening the bond with someone you already know prevents you from making a new friend at the airport. Then again I can be a little shy so the idea of making a new friend at the airport is perhaps not a goal I would have, although new friends somehow get brought into your life when you least expect it.

Happy Adventures!

Though I hate the hassle of having to go though the security check points and not bring what I want on the flight with me, I still enjoy the process being at the airports. I usually have my laptop with me to help kill the time when I have to check in two hours before the flight or its too distracting to read a book. I have met people and made new friends at the airports - people who I still have contact with today. I guess the time you spend there is what you make of it.

This is not only amazing , but "THE BEST" definition of why we travel I ever read. This saying by Pico Iyer, I don't know where you found it but I am going to "have to" borrow it!!! Thanks for the fantastic article. I am going to circulate this little blog among friends as I notice few comments and this blog deserves more exposure as it has something to offer people. It really has its own unique style and we appreciate the sensitive articles and original stuff we've been reading. Thanks again!
