Sawdust and Glass!

You can blow out a candle
But you can’t blow out a fire
Once the flames begin to catch
The wind will blow it higher
-Peter Gabriel-

I’ve come home. When you are home you remember. You remember history. Your history. You feel the green grass on the ground and you feel grounded. If you ever come to my Canadian home there is a giant maple tree out front. The tree has a name. Margaret Maud. That’s my grandmother’s name. She gave the tree to my parents as a wedding gift.

When you come home to an art studio you can’t help but be inspired. Inspired to paint, inspired to play, inspired to create. Ron and Ann Oastler, a.k.a Dad and Mom aka Sawdust and Glass have been creating things as long as I can remember. “They have been creating unique stained glass, fused glass and wood pieces as a business since 1998.” Check out some of their work. If you are in the Kingston area, the next show is Sunday August 15th 2010 at the Women’s Art Festival in City Park or check out their website for more information and to tour the product gallery.

It is nice to be home.
